Monica Smith - digital artist

About Me

I'm a born organizer, I enjoy streamlinging the bejeesus out of everything. Regardless, I'm still really fun to work with. I've been an art professor. The best parts were witnessing the enthusiaum of the students and teaching the art of the constructive critique.

In the web biz I've been involved in all aspects from marketing meetings, site concepting, IA, UX, design, and project management. I've lead teams of 25+, acting as ringmaster of production ceremonies! I freelance to keep the portfolio diverse, and enjoy honing my After Effects skills.

I also do photography and collage. I have exhibited my fine art in group shows in Memphis, New Orleans, Baltimore and NYC. For fun I play guitar, watch independent and foreign cinema, dabble in screenwriting, and take classes at SVA.

AND...I can do it all in Spanish too!

"Outstanding technical, organizational, communicational and design skills in one package-with no attitude to boot. As Smallworld shifted directions during the DotCom's turbulent times, Monica led the way and was instrumental in helping the Design Team adapt to new paradigms, streamline processes, work smarter, and output better work."

A good site allows the user to find information quickly and intuitively. Graphic design should enhance the browsing experience, just as a soundtrack enhances a movie, but should never overwhelm the viewer.
